Urology covers the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra in men and women, and the male reproductive system. Common problems include kidney stones, urinary infections, difficulty passing urine, blood in the urine and prostate problems. Treatment may be with medicines, endoscopic procedures or surgery, depending on the condition.

Kidney conditions: Kidney stones, infections and cysts are assessed with examination, urine tests and imaging such as ultrasound. The treatment plan depends on the size and position of the problem.

Bladder and urethra: Burning, leakage, frequent urination, pain or a weak stream should be checked by a doctor. We assess these in the urology OPD and treat or refer as needed.

When to see a urologist: blood in the urine, pain in the side or lower abdomen, repeated urinary infections, leakage, difficulty passing urine.
